Many students with 504 plans have support during the school day. But once the school bell rings, familiar struggles can return: difficulty focusing, feeling overwhelmed by assignments, and trouble managing time effectively. We also understand that parents and caregivers want to provide the best possible support at home.
The Ability to: Concentrate on a task without distraction, staying on track toward the completion of that task.
How 5-O-FOCUS helps: Mentors teach strategies to break down work into smaller chunks, create distraction-free environments, and use tools like timers or focus apps.
The Ability to: Create and maintain systems for managing materials, assignments, and time effectively .
How 5-O-FOCUS helps: Mentors help establish routines, set up workspaces, develop clear systems for storing and tracking assignments, and use visual schedules.
The Ability to: See tasks through from start to finish, meeting deadlines, and overcoming procrastination.
How 5-O-FOCUS helps: Mentors help with task breakdown, time estimation, setting small goals, and celebrating milestones to stay motivated towards completion.
The Ability to: Grasp concepts, connect new information to existing knowledge, and ask for clarification when needed.
